"At least 89.3 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are nearly 27.1 million refugees, around half of whom are under the age of 18."
According to UNHCR's 2021 reports, 89.3 million people (worldwide) live as refugees, internally displaced, or stateless. It is estimated that around 14 million refugees are under 18. They lack access to food, clean water, shelter, and hygiene. They also need access to fundamental rights like education, health care, employment, freedom of movement, and security.
There are three approaches to our relief efforts.
The short-term relief efforts, especially after a calamity, include setting up temporary shelters, sending out a task force, and providing food, clothing, medical aid, and hygiene.
The long-term self-reliance goal is to set up displaced people toward self-sufficiency. These efforts include sponsoring prosthetic limb procedures for individuals in need so that they can become self-reliant again. The resettlement efforts of displaced individuals and households include access to affordable housing. Setting the displaced and refugee populations up for economic self-reliance efforts includes vocational training and language classes so that they can find jobs in the host country. It also includes providing small business loans to qualifying individuals. This program focuses on single mothers and widows and allows them to open their small businesses and generate income even from home.
The Long-Term Sustainability mission of Upbuild Foundation incorporates all the facets of the sustainability model, integrating social, cultural, economic, and ecological dimensions. Our sustainability vision perceives accomplishing sustainable communities through the resettlement process. With our team of experts, we are building low-cost housing units that are
energy-efficient and have a low carbon footprint.
Our long-term goal is to invest in zero-energy eco-communities that thrive on a circular economy.
The need is big. We believe that:
What we cannot do alone, we can do together!
We work with the most reliable and efficient nonprofit and community organizations to achieve our goals and targets. We pick our partners very carefully after a vetting process.
UNHCR has reported that Turkey (3.8M) and Pakistan (1.5M) are among the major host countries for refugees. That is why we started our work in these countries. Pakistan is also faced with the challenge of resettling internally displaced affectees of the 2022 Flood.
In Turkey, we have worked with "Insan Onuru Dernegi" (Human Dignity Relief Organization) and "Ensar Sevgi ve Kardeşlik Derneği" (Ensar Love and Brotherhood Organization).
We are working with Safety Net Welfare Society and Zindagi Foundation in Pakistan.
We sincerely believe that there is only one world and we are all custodians of it. That is why the sustainable footprint of our relief efforts should not be confined to borders.
