Natural disasters and wars leave people homeless and stateless, and many individuals also lose parts of their bodies. Limb prostheses help people get back on the road to self-reliance and healing. They have a better chance of recovering from emotional and mental trauma. With our partner organization in Kilis, Turkey, we can sponsor prosthetic procedures for Syrian refugees.

Six-year-old Ahmet was playing when a handmade bomb hidden in the house where his family took refuge in Azez, Syria, exploded. Ahmet lost vision in both his eyes and his right leg. With their seven children, his parents crossed the border and found shelter in Kilis-Turkey. Ahmet has been told that nothing can be done about his eyes, but the option of a new prosthetic leg brought hope to him. He waited patiently for many years, and finally, with the help of our partner organization Ensar Sevgi ve Kardeşlik Derneği (Ensar Love and Brotherhood Organization) in Kilis, we were able to give Ahmet a prosthetic leg recently.
Mustafa is now 22 years old. He came from Aleppo to Turkey ten years ago. Mustafa lost his leg in the shelling attack that took away his father's and uncle's lives. In May 2012, the twelve-year-old Mustafa became a disabled orphan with three disabled sisters to look after. Mustafa now lives in Kilis and patiently awaits a prosthetic leg.
Yusuf lost his right arm and right leg when a bomb detonated in an abandoned car while he strolled down a street near his home in Aleppo. Fortunately, his life was saved. Yusuf has gone through multiple treatments. He now lives in Gaziantep, Turkey, with his wife and two children. We have previously given Yusuf a prosthetic leg, but his body has become sensitive and breaks out in an allergic reaction. For this reason, Yusuf will need a specially designed prosthesis explicitly made for him. It will cost 3800 USD; we are still short of 2500 USD.
Yusuf lost both legs when a bomb dropped on his neighborhood in Aleppo. He lost many relatives and friends that day. He now lives in Kilis, Turkey, with his wife and five children. The Prostheses will help Yusuf live a more normal life and support his beautiful family.
